hitting down

By: Walter Kiriaka

I would like all my kids to have this problem, because I donot see this as a problem. He has a favoured inside out swing and hitting down on the ball is recomended at the higher levels. The point being that a home run is a Line Drive that you got all of. Yes, Mcguire has a slight uppercut, but that's his job. If your son is hitting the gaps and driving home a run great, if your son is bouncing the ball 2 feet from home plate then that is a problem and Tee work should correct it, he might have a hitch in his stance where the hands are held too high and to level off his swing just get him to lower his hands a bit. In you Soft toss drills are you throwing the ball hard enouh so the ball doesn't break downwards? Aim the ball towards his knee and away throwing the ball on an even plane.
By the way as the kids get older and the outfield can catch their is nothing worse than needing a single and the batter hits a fly that is caught easily because of hangtime on the ball.

Don,t know if this helps your situation, but it's nice to see people get out and ask for info.
