Playing on 2 teams???

By: seadog

Steve,

You sound like a parent or coach of aselect team player.Part of me agrees with you because I know how dedicated this kid is to the game. But as a coach of this team I feel I have to take care of this team and its chemistry.Allowing one player to miss practice or a game because he wants to play on a another team as well sounds like having your cake and ear it too.
Playing time during the regular season on my team (30-32 games) is according to attendence, practice attitude and a willingness to work at improving there game.If a player is missing games or practice due to school function, family emergency, or church functions then his playing time is not hurt for everything else he will have to give up some playing time.
I appreciate everyones input and will take it all under consideration, but at this time I think I will ask the player to make my team his primary team( not miss practices or games ) since he is a returning player, and then play and practice on his off days with the other team.If he feels he cannot due this I will wish him luck and fill his roster spot with another player.
In this day and age I think we need to ask the kids to be accountable to thier teamates and not just to themselves.
