Need Advice on "problem" player
By: TJI believe a Baseball Coach has a responsibility to do his best to instruct all facets of the game of baseball. This include both the primary as well as the secondary attributes.
The permanence of this game relies on the content and character of its great teachers. A great teacher is a coach, a motivator, a fundamentalist and a student of the game when, and only when he has fulfilled those self obtained rewards, respect and recognition obligation to all students, equally, and without hesistation. A great coach shall place and emphasize the importance on each student's education, motivation, confidence, learning cycle, compassion for failure, and above all, trust within himself. As part of this larger than life responsibility, the coach shall not misunderstand the fundamentals of instruction as applicable to all players, coaches, and support personnel.
My observations, Paul, is that the focus of your problem requires a little redirection to obtain better understanding of the pupil.
Common concerns would be:
a) Is there an injury?
b) What has the student learned today?
c) Does the student see any benefits or practice makes permanent?
d) Support the student's development of his short term, mid-term, and long term goals.
e) What does the pupil want to do?
f) How does the pupil want to do it?
g) When does the pupil want to do it?
