By: TJ

It's beneficial to understand
age of player and type of pitching
he is facing to understand if
the player is 'jamming' himself
during the baseball swing.

In addition to what Jim mentioned,
this type of ailment (e.g. getting jammed) could also mean weaknesses
in the following hitting mechanics:

a) Lower Half -
a1. Poor Stride / No Stride
a2. Inability to clear hips

b) Upper Half -
b1. Helicoptor swing
Casting
Front Arm Bar

b2. Premature Extension of
arms and hands at contact

Goal & Objective:
Put sweet spot of bat on ball
consistently (e.g. all hitters
get jammed. period. Just the good
hitters do is less frequently)

Potential Remedy
1. The ol' swing the behind the
back, (to isolate Arms/Hands)
& examine lower / upper Half sync

2. Top Hand / Bottom Hand Tee Work

3. Underload/Overlaod Hitting Drills
e.g. Smaller Balls
Longer Bats
Thinner Sticks

Good luck
