Are there too many teams?

I have seen where a team is built around a couple of kids by daddy in AAU. The team struggles every week. The dad has his kid playing second base and only second base with no other kids playing there. It is his team, therefore his kid will play second base. dad also pays for the home and away uniforms, the practice uniforms, equipment bags, cleted shoes, and helmets. But his kid is on an AAU travel team. oh boy....

I have also seen where several parents that were disgusted with the way the local LL was being run created an AAU team and have adopted the philosophy that they are trying to prepare the kids for HS ball. There were some shady things happening with the LL so i think they were partially justified in going to AAU. They could also have been more involved with the LL and worked to change things too..
be that as it may... they have a competetive AAU team and are working towards a goal.
Some of the kids play both LL and AAU during the year... my son is one of them. He just wants to play ball alot. He is 11YO (will be 12 in Feb) playing 12U AAU and 12YO LL ...
Last night he was out working with the 13YO LL kids on the 60/90 field.. suprised me that he could keep up and make the throws. He did say he got tired quicker...it took more effort...
but he was all smiles.

too many teams... NO.... too many poorly organized teams/coaches.. YES...
It is all the rage here in FL to have a travel team...
