LLWS game last night

LL was at its finest Monday night during and after the championship game. People will never probably know how those teams were established, but what they will know is what they saw.

The play was great, the crowds were tremendous, and the sportsmanship shown between both the Japanese and Georgia teams was heartwarming. The hugs and pats on the back after the game, the Japanese youngsters crying as they scooped dirt into pouches to take home, the Georgia kid crying during the aftergame interview in which he said he was just "so happy."

The game was what you want to see in a championship game. The play at home was a good one to talk about, but the great thing about it was the home run by the next batter. It could have been 3-1 instead of 2-1 and that put even more drama in the last inning.

Kyle Carter is an exceptional player. It will be interesting to see what happens to him in the next few years. Typically superstars at 12 or 13 peak out and never develop like people think, but there's always that hope.

It was a great game and a great series that spotlighted Little League. There certainly are some questions and problems with team makeup as we have discussed here before. I doubt that an organization that big can get rid of all of the controversy, but it certainly can work at it.

Anyway, I was really impressed with the way the teams handled themselves - at least in the championship game. I sure would like to see problems like Lemont be dealt with publicly by LL baseball to encourage other leagues to straighten up whatever problems they may have.
