Sore Arms

By: Coach O'Neal

The two most common causes of a sore arm (little league elbow) is overuse & improper warm up.The following recommendations, if followed, will prolong & prevent even minor symtoms from occuring.

1. Warm up starting approx. 15 feet apart . Back up about 5 steps every 6 throws while increasing speed thrown until you reach 30 throws.

2. Limit your amount of throws or pitches to 90-100 per day.

3. When throwing, the elbow should be at shoulder height & the hand should come over the top of the ball (avoid sidearm motion).

A final tip when the pain is first noticed from Birt Stem is easily remembered by Rest, Ice, Compression (ace bandage) & Elevation.
