Our 18U Black Girls team had a terrific experience living on the Western university campus this past weekend (during Homecoming weekend!) where we trained in an amazing facility.

Upon arrival in London, we kicked off the weekend with some team building along with the Western Varsity Women’s Volleyball Team. Participating in various activities, (both physical and mental) with our teammates helped build skills, helped build trust and most importantly, allowed us to really gel as a team.

For the 6 girls who were on 17U Black last year, the 2 girls who played up on 18U Black and the 3 new members from other clubs, we all found the weekend to be an opportunity to create new friendships. Through the sharing of funny stories, ice baths, dried mango and chocolate rivers, we not only got to know our team mates, but the players “off the court”.

We are all pleasantly surprised how quickly we have all bonded and come together as a team! Although in some cases we were once playing against each other on opposite sides of the net – we now consider ourselves “family” and we have certainly built up a lot of excitement for the season ahead!
